The Abingdon-Avon School District says confidential data was compromised and they are working to fix the issue. In a statement posted to their website, district officials say they were alerted to the data breach when they discovered unauthorized changes to student grade point averages.
After an investigation, they say other breaches were discovered, including unauthorized access and copying of emails. Officials say an unnamed employee was placed on leave and they are working to make their data system more secure.
The district’s superintendent and principals were in meetings all day and unavailable for a comment.
